There's a place for DIY pest control. A single ant trail on the counter or a stray spider doesn't usually require a technician. Good sanitation, sealed food and a clean kitchen solve many minor issues before they start.
The trouble begins when pests are established. Cockroaches, bedbugs, termites and rodents breed quickly and hide in places consumer products can't reach. By the time you see several, there are usually many more out of sight.
DIY sprays also carry hidden risks. Misused chemicals can contaminate food surfaces, irritate pets and family members, and — for pests like bedbugs and pharaoh ants — actually scatter the colony wider through your home, making the problem harder to solve.
A professional brings three things consumer products can't: correct identification of the pest and its source, access to PCPB-approved products applied at the right dose and location, and a follow-up plan to stop reinfestation.
As a rule of thumb: try DIY for a single, clearly minor issue. For recurring problems, multiple pests, or anything affecting your sleep, food or property structure, call a licensed professional. It usually costs less in the long run than repeated unsuccessful attempts.
